In this project we had to deal with the relation of contemporary cheap construction and the preservation of an inheritance of vernacular tradition.

The project’s aim was to build a new house of about 70m2 for a workers family in a blueberry farm. The location is southern Chile, wich means a very rainy climate with a thermal oscilation betwen -5 and 35°C. The region was colonized by germans wich had developed a particular wood architecture highly fitted to the weather’s demands.

Our approach is to read the adaptation strategies presented by vernacular architecture and take advantage of them in compatibility with nowadays builgding methods.
